Etsy is a great place for a hoop, and there’s also hoopsupplies.com where you can buy a hoop making kit for just a single hoop (or even a ready made hoop!). If you don’t want to deal with shipping, try to find a local hoop maker or hit up a hoop booth at a festival. I believe Hoopnotica hoops are available at CVS now, but I always recommend supporting the smaller hoop makers :)
What are the best hoop trick to begin with?... For beginners hah. :]
The vortex is probably the best move to start with, in terms of being easy and totally badass looking. And although it’s not quite as easy as the vortex, learning to chest hoop very early in my hoop practice has really helped me a lot!
“Male and female are one body that is no body in the time before time when God/me gave birth, created itself. An orgasm beyond orgasm that shakes loose streams of energy which becomes space, planets, trees, bugs and people. RAPTURE. Am God, energy or whatever, me/you/they. Everything. Created creator.”—Elizabeth Gips (Scrapbook of a Haight Ashbury Pilgrim: Spirit, Sacraments and Sex in 1967/1968)
Hey, thanks for the follow! I just watched your LED hooping video at the /tagged/me page and can you tell me how you do this trick around 0:23 till 0:25, know what I mean? You kind of turn out of the hoop. Looks amazing, where did you learned that? :)
Of course! I taught myself that move (although I definitely wasn’t the first to do it!). It sort of developed when I found myself needing a graceful escape from that angle of chest hooping.
It’s pretty much exactly what it looks like: while I’m turning through the barrel roll and my chest is facing upward, I just grab the hoop with both hands and keep turning the hoop while pulling my body out of it. I guess technically it would be a chest barrel roll flowing into an isolation barrel roll.
There are definitely youtube tutorials for the barrel roll, but not many for the isolation barrel roll. Maybe I should make one!
